Glenn Royce Nicola, SD '00

Glenn Royce Nicola, SD’2000, was the victim of a tragic automobile accident October 24, 2001 on Guam where he was working at the Seventh-day Adventist Dental Clinic. Royce was born November 28, 1972, in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, where his parents were serving as missionaries.

Royce returned to the United States at age 13 with his sister, followed two months later by their parents. While attending Mesa Grande Academy one of Dr. Nicola’s best friends was Lori Christensen. Some years later this friendship developed into love, resulting in their marriage on December 23, 1998.

After his sophomore year of college, he spent a year as a missionary in Yap where he taught school. At an early age, he expressed his desire to follow his father, Quint Nicola, SD’69, and grandfather in dentistry. His sister, Caroline, was his first patient.

In dental school, Royce took pride in developing review study aids for his classmates and those to follow. Lori continued to be his loyal supporter and soulmate. In August, 2000, the young couple accepted an assignment to serve at Guam Seventh-day Adventist Clinic.

Dr. Nicola will be remembered by his friends and family members as a consistent Christian, and an encouraging, steady, loyal friend.
