ASDA-ADEA Student Lobby Day

On March 20, 2002, 144 dental students from the nation's 55 dental schools attended ASDA-ADEA Student Lobby Day in Washington, D.C.

Fourth-year dental student James Gibson, and third-year dental students Nathan Dinsbach and Dave Wilcox represented the School of Dentistry, meeting with U.S. Senators and Congressmen from California, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah to lobby for dentistry-related bills and budget apportionments.

The main focus of the event was The Children's Dental Health Improvement Act, (H.R. 3659 and S. 1626) which would provide support for improving dental access for children from low-income families. Another focus, The Student Loan Flexibility Act of 2001 (H.R. 3273) is a bill that eliminates the "single holder rule" in the Federal loan consolidation program.
