Kris Wilkins is named chair, dental hygiene

Kris Wilkins, MA, DH'80, has been named chair, dental hygiene department.
Ms. Wilkins served as assistant professor and associate chair for the department since 2001. She joined the School as a part-time clinical instructor in 1995, bringing with her more than 15 years of clinical experience in local dental practices. In 1996, she was named preclinical course director and junior dental hygiene clinic director. She earned her MA degree in biomedical and clinical ethics from the LLU Graduate School in 2002.

She holds numerous professional memberships including American, California, and Tri-County Dental Hygienists' Associations, and American Dental Educator's and California Dental Hygiene Educator's Associations, and Sigma Phi Alpha Dental Hygiene Honor Society.

Since 2000, she has served as secretary/treasurer, Sigma Phi Alpha, Alpha Alpha Chapter, and was co-president, Dental Hygiene Alumni Association, from 1993-94.

Karen Simpson, DH'66, MPH'78 served as chair of the department since 1994, and has returned to full-time teaching.
