Faculty attend Conference of Operative Dentistry Educators
Daniel Tan, SD’75, professor, and Patrick Oshita, SD’96,
assistant professor, restorative dentistry, contributed at the annual
Pacific Region CODE (Conference of Operative Dentistry Educators) meeting
at University of Southern California.
Items on the agenda included the following: how each school handles clinical
requirements vs. comprehensive care, as the curriculum should be competency
based; how each school determines and maintains competency; are there
non-patient competency exams; what type of lab support services are utilized,
what type of curing light techniques are taught, among others.
Representatives from the eight Pacific Coast schools of dentistry participate:
UBC, UW, OHS, UOP, UCSF, USC, UCLA, and LLU.
The 2002 CODE conference is tentatively scheduled to be held in San Francisco.
