'Students in Service' program

A sponsorship program, "Students in Service," now enables donors to help dental and dental hygiene students participate in extramural mission service.

"Throughout the year our students provide oral health care to underserved populations in many parts of the world," explains Fred Kasischke, DMin, assistant dean, admissions and service learning. "Though we have partial funding from various sources, some students are not able to participate due to financial considerations."

A committee processes requests for sponsorship and coordinates the selection process, with primary consideration being financial need. Donors are notified of the sponsorship, and receive a report from the student following the mission trip. They are also recognized in publicity and on a display next to the student lounge in Prince Hall.

Financial support for student missions is provided by the Alumni Association, the class of 1977, and National Association of Seventh-day Adventist Dentists. Checks may be made out to LLU, with a notation "Students in Service." Gifts by credit card may be made to the School's development office, by calling (909) 558-4754.
