Clyde Roggenkamp, DDS, MSD, assistant professor of restorative dentistry in the School of Dentistry, presented Mineral Trioxide Aggregate: A Proven Direct Pulp Cap Medication. This included a current research literature review, "Pulp Protection Trends" There appears to be a trend recognizing the relative inefficiency of traditional dental restorative varnishes, liners, and bases. Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) is a root repair material that demonstrates the best dentinal seal of anything now available. It was developed and patented by Mahmoud Torabinejad, DMD, PhD, professor of endodontics at LLU. This new product, which has only been marketed for a few months, is showing great promise of success. The distributors, Dentsply Tulsa Dental, report being four to six weeks behind in delivering orders, since they started in the last week in December. All dentists in attendance at this table clinic showed considerable interest.

Lloyd Baum, DMD, professor of restorative dentistry, presented Gold Foil Is Not Dead Yet: Some Practical Applications of E-Z Gold. As if to prove the point, his table clinic was very popularly attended.

Douglass Roberts, SD'66, MS'77, professor of restorative dentistry, presented A Comparison of Buildup Materials for Restoring Widely Flared Root Canals. It is from a study he mentored for Sam Kim, Caroline Le and Dan Nguyen (all SD'99) last year. Dr. Roberts' table clinic was very well attended.

Other LLUSD faculty who attended were Robert Kinzer, SD'58, professor and chair of the department of restorative dentistry, and Arthur Johnson, SD'58, associate professor of restorative dentistry.
