IN MEMORIAM

Hollis F. Cochran, SD'64

H. F. Cochran
Hollis F. Cochran, SD'64, died at Southside Nursing Home, Hollister, California, Jan. 17, 1999, after a long illness. He was 73.

A native of San Pedro, California, Dr. Cochran practiced dentistry in Tennessee from 1964 to 1973, and in Hollister, California, from 1973 to 1988. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and a past member of the local Lions Club, Rotary Club and SIRS.

Funeral services were conducted on Jan. 20, with interment at IOOF Cemetery in Hollister. Dr. Cochran is surved by his wife Brenda, sons Craig Cochran of Visalia, L. Todd Cochran, SD'80, of Hollister, and Chris Cochran of Monterey, grandchildren Natalie and Neal Cochran of Hollister, and stepsons Kenneth and Douglas Ledbetter.

Memorial contributions to Loma Linda University School of Dentistry are preferred to flowers.

John Rozema, SD'64, MS'68

J. RozemaJohn Rozema, 66, of Redlands, California, died February 7, 1999, at his home. Dr. Rozema was the first oral and maxillofacial surgery resident at Loma Linda University/UCI Medical Center in 1968. He practiced oral and maxillofacial surgery for 28 years in association with Dr. James Sellas, Dr. Wilson Baugh, and Dr. Trenton Huls. He was formerly associate professor at Loma Linda University Medical Center.

Dr. Rozema was a fellow of Southern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He was a member of the Southern California Society of Oral Pathology, the American Dental Association, and the Tri-County Dental Association.

Dr. Rozema was a sheriff's ranger with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and recently served as Captain. He was also a lifetime member of the Flying Samaritans and volunteered many hours of his time and skill at San Bernardino County Medical Center and Loma Linda University Medical Center.

Dr. Rozema is survived by his father, Ralph Rozema, Sr., his sister and five brothers, his son David, his daughter Susie, and grandsons John and Andy.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Flying Samaritans or to Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.

Alden Lee Denman, SD'63

A. L. DenmanAlden Denman passed away on April 25, 1999, after a motorcycle accident in Ludlow, California. He was born in his grandfather's farmhouse in Blair, Nebraska; worked his way through Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska; served two years in the army during the Korean Conflict; and graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. He practiced dentistry in Woodland Hills, California.

Dr. Denman piloted planes to underdeveloped communities in Mexico as a member of LIGA, a flying medical/dental society which provides services to the poor. He was an active member of Rotary International and past president of the Woodland Hills Rotary Club; an active member of the Quiet Birdman, a prestigious Veteran fliers' club; a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Society, and past chair of the Ethics Committee for the San Fernando Valley Dental Society. Dr. Denman was also past president of the Working Dog Association and active member of the German Shepherd Dog Club of America and the Ugly Motorcycle Club. His other interests included working on family geneaology, gardening, and cheering the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Dr. Denman is survived by his wife of 31 years, Pat; his children Anita, Craig, Sharon, Lori, and Eric; grandchildren Holly, David, Tyler, Justin and Conner; brother Roger Denman, and sister Joni Nelson.
