Alumni president's message:
The celebration continues...
 |
The celebration of our first 50 years continues. We all share in the sense of pride for the excellence of our school and our first 5,000 graduates.
Many of us enjoy the historic displays at numerous sites inside and outside of the building. These excellent exhibits highlight the faculty, administrators, scholars, and inventors as well as many students and staff.
I especially enjoy studying the great contributions of Dr. Neils B. Jorgensen and Dr. Lloyd Baum who have given so much to make our School what it is today. Students, staff, patients, and visitors can all appreciate our history and mission.
Plan to join us for the 44th annual Alumni Student Convention February 5-8, 2004. The educational, social, and spiritual benefits of attendance are out of this world. A few highlights include scientific sessions and student research presentations featured on Thursday, with the early evening set aside for the homecoming reception from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. This reception always provides an excellent chance to get together with alumni, students, and friends. Delicious food and drinks will be provided.
Friday afternoon includes the Student Dedication program, a beautiful ceremony where the Alumni Association provides personalized Bibles to incoming students, and monogrammed white coats for senior students. Alumni, students, families, and guests always enjoy this program.
A new addition to our 2004 Alumni Student convention will be a mentoring session Thursday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. This will be held downstairs in the Wong Kerlee International Center.
It is our plan to bring alumni volunteers with experience and expertise to share one-on-one or in small groups with our students as they consider their professional and practice options.
Alumni are invited to share their unique perspective of what works or doesn't work for them. Please consider participating in this new program by calling the Alumni Association office at (909) 558-4399.
Mission trips and externships are fondly remembered by hundreds of students and alumni. Join us on Saturday afternoon to hear stories from current students who have served locally and internationally. Music will be provided by Another Peace Gospel Choir, directed by Dr. Alan Woodson, SD'87.
I look forward to welcoming you back to our alma mater in February!
W. Eugene Rathbun, SD'65, MS'71
