Nine faculty members from a new dental school in Leon, Mexico, came to visit Loma Linda University School of Dentistry on November 25. They are from the Instituto Latinamericano de Ciencias y Humanidades which has a dental school that has recently been established.
The group was interested in observing how LLUSD operates in several areas and were hosted by: Drs. Bonnie Nelson-pediatric dentistry; Craig Ririe-periodontics; Jaime Lozada-implant dentistry; Alan Herford-oral and maxillofacial surgery; Joseph Caruso-orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics; Mahmoud Torabinejad-endodontics; Leif K. Bakland - advanced education programs; Fred Berry-dental materials; Matty Abbate-clinic operation; and Carlos Munoz-dental research.
In addition to visiting various dental school activities, they were treated to a vegetarian lunch in the Dean's Conference Room and given the School's 50th Anniversary pin, School of Dentistry pens, copies of the educational CDs on implant dentistry and on tooth preparation, and a copy of the new Atlas of the Human Dentition (the CDs and Atlas were developed under the direction of Dr. Charles Goodacre).
