Our cover shows second-year dental student Elisa Martin, as she extracts
the first tooth of her dental career, from an Amazonian patient. Elisa
was part of the dental team who, along with medical and public health
personnel, served in the Amazon Basin last summer.
PURPOSE
Loma Linda University School of Dentistry is a teaching institution
of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The School’s fundamental purpose
is to provide--through the faculty, staff, administration and curricula--an
environment for learning that emphasizes individual commitment to
Christ, personal integrity, intellectual development and generous
service to humankind and the Church.
DENTISTRY is designed to inform alumni, faculty, students,
and other interested individuals about the current School programs,
events, and activities, as well as accomplishments of fellow alumni,
faculty, and students. This journal is published biannually by Loma
Linda University School of Dentistry.
