Is there a dental personality?
Breakout groups of dental and dental hygiene students described their
personalities in the following ways:
29% - SFJ Guardians (Sensory / Feeling/Judging): Good-humored, caring/
caretakers, down to earth, considerate, versatile, social/sociable, approachable,
empathetic, rise to occasion, adaptable, observant, list makers, to-the-point,
not spontaneous, involved, structured.
26% - STJ Guardians (Sensory / Teaching/Judging): Consistent, systematic,
structured, careful planners, moderate, practical, stable, nurturing,
sentimental, administrators, reliable, dependable, accommodating, efficient,
planners and list makers, impatient, people pleasers, conservative, leaders,
perfectionistic, sociable (but only with people with whom we have things
in common), ordered, inspectors and supervisors, serious, quiet.
11% - SP Artisans (Sensory / Perceiving): Easy-going, relaxed, fun, spontaneous,
considerate, flexible, practical, unconventional, do own thing, special
and irresistible, individualistic, performance virtuosos with tools or
instruments of any kind.
18% - NF Idealists (Intuitive / Feeling): Good communication skills, no
herd mentality, content to be unique, people oriented, appreciate personal
feedback, would rather demonstrate than explain, creative, passionate.
14% - NT Rationals (Intuitive / Teaching): Logical thinkers, opinionated,
our way is right way, creative, detail-oriented, impatient, stubborn,
focused, uncaring of others' feelings, organized, problem-solving, theoretical,
articulate, assertive, learners, efficient, inventive, researchers.
First-year dental students try their new instruments and "holds"
in a light-hearted session led by Robert Kinzer, SD'58, professor of restorative
dentistry.
