Philip J. Boyne named Faculty of the Year

Philip J. Boyne, DMD, has been named Faculty of the Year
by the division of plastic and reconstructive surgery, School of Medicine.
Dr. Boyne joined the Loma Linda University faculty in 1978 as director
of residency training in oral and maxillofacial surgery, and subsequently
was appointed to attending staff in the department of surgery in the
division of plastic surgery.
During his career, Dr. Boyne has been active in the study of bone regeneration,
bone grafting, osseous correction of cleft palate and craniofacial anomalies,
and the osseous repair of facial bones. More recently his work has dealt
with the clinical application of bone inductor cytokines.
He has authored 186 publications in refereed journals, chapters for
textbooks, and has written two textbooks on maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Boyne was the recipient of the highest honor gi
ven by the American Cleft PalateCraniofacial Association
in 1994.
He has been on many professional boards and committees including the
board of directors of the American Cleft PalateCraniofacial Association.
Dr. Boyne and his wife of 54 years, Mary Anne, live in Loma Linda.
