About the Drayson Center
Loma Linda University Drayson Center, recreation and wellness complex for students, faculty, staff, family members, and the surrounding communities, is named in honor of Ronald and Grace Drayson, who donated the Alto Camino mobile home park to the University. With an estimated value of $8 million, this gift provided the cornerstone for funding the construction of the Center. It represents a glittering centerpiece of two lives dedicated and committed to service through the years.
"Drayson Center was conceived in the tradition of the health principles of the Seventh-day Adventist Church," says B. Lyn Behrens, MBBS, president of Loma Linda University Adventist Health Sciences Center (LLUAHSC). "The good health of the students, faculty, and University community will be served by this facility with its wellness emphasis."
The $16.2 million Center, which opened its doors on January 11, 1995, encompasses a 100,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility that serves as the focal point for out-of-class campus life at Loma Linda University. Students from all eight schools on campus congregate at Drayson Center for fitness, recreational and social activities and programs that emphasize and promote physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual wholeness.

The mission
The mission of LLU Drayson Center is to provide opportunities for enhancement of the quality of life within this community through a wide variety of social, recreational, and health-building activities. These activities enhance the major emphasis of this Seventh-day Adventist health sciences university, "to make man whole," and contribute to the balance and integration of the intellectual, spiritual, social, and physical powers of students and others whom we serve. The Center is committed to fulfilling its mission through:
Serving as an integral component of the University, providing a central location for activities that are culturally enriching, socially stimulating, and mentally, spiritually, and physically invigorating;
Providing a comprehensive offering of cocurricular programs and activities which respond to the needs and interests of our diverse campus population; and
Educating our constituencies to cultivate habits and attitudes that will contribute to lifelong well being, thereby enriching one's total life.
More succinctly, the LLU Drayson Center is dedicated to "promoting physical, mental, and spiritual wellness through recreation and fitness."
