Giving Guide

A Guide for Gifts & Bequests for Loma Linda Contributors

*Introduction

Guided by a mission "to make man whole," Loma Linda University, Loma Linda University Medical Center, and Loma Linda University Children's Hospital exist to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ.

The continuing endeavors of the University, Medical Center and Children's Hospital can be traced to three roots that brought these institutions about at the turn of the 1900s--health education, prevention of disease and health promotion, and sharing God's love with a hurting world.

Loma Linda is known around the world for excellence in education, and the advancement of medical science and health care. The University has close to 3,000 students from about 80 countries. Its more than 26,000 alumni serve in more than 100 countries. The Medical Center and Children's Hospital serve the nearby community and the international field. Together, these institutions form the hub of a worldwide health-care system that serves more than six million patients annually.

Much of what happens at Loma Linda is made possible only because our donors believe strongly in the mission being pursued here. Voluntary gifts had a central role in starting Loma Linda University, Medical Center, and Children's Hospital. Voluntary gifts continue building our institutions today. We are honored, humbled, and deeply grateful.

Loma Linda University, Loma Linda University Medical Center, and Loma Linda University Children's Hospital Foundation on behalf of Loma Linda University Children's Hospital are authorized to seek and receive gifts and bequests, to accept trusts and carry out their provisions, and to hold, administer, manage, invest, and allocate gifts of all types--all to the benefit of these institutions.

Each year, alumni and other friends, patients, foundations, and corporations make gifts to our institutions for programs and projects that advance them. These contributions support students, academic endeavors of all types, research, capital development and equipment needs, and many other activities to fulfill our institutions' mission.

The University, the Medical Center and the Children's Hospital use the gifts of contributors in strict accordance with their stated wishes. Gifts to the University and Medical Center are accepted by their respective philanthropy offices. Children's Hospital gifts are accepted by the Children's Hospital Foundation. Contributions are managed by our institutions' respective financial officers in accordance with all applicable financial management procedures, accounting standards, and laws. Endowment gifts and funds, and gifts of real property and other assets are managed by the Loma Linda University Foundation on behalf of the University, Medical Center, and Children's Hospital Foundation.
