Kent Beaman is a research associate in the Section of Herpetology at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (LACM). He also operates his own environmental consulting firm, Beaman Biological Consulting, in Southern California, and holds an adjunct faculty position in the life science department at Riverside Community College. He works closely with Dr. Hayes and his students on their rattlesnake projects and is co-organizer of the January 2005 Biology of the Rattlesnakes Symposium.

Kent has published articles on a wide range of topics in herpetology, including three rattlesnake accounts for the Catalogue of American Amphibians and Reptiles: Baja Rattlesnake (Crotalus enyo), Santa Catalina Island Rattleless Rattlesnake (Crotalus catalinensis), and Tortuga Island Rattlesnake (Crotalus tortugensis).
