Dr. Owen's work focuses on the identification of efficacious and effective psychological treatments for those confronting life-threatening medical illnesses. He is interested in the development and evaluation of population-based approaches to treating psychological distress, particularly for those living with cancer. His recent work involves 3 primary foci: 1) evaluation of online support groups for treating cancer-related distress, 2) measurement of social and behavioral characteristics using objective techniques, and 3) identification of linguistic markers of psychological growth.
