Christiane Schubert

I am in my final year of PhD studies in Loma Linda University's Social Policy and Social Research Program. I am also serving as a Research Specialist in the Department of Social Work and Social Ecology.

I hold degrees in:

* Medical technology from the St. Georg Schule fuer Technische Assistenten in der Medizin in Hamburg, Germany.
* BS in microbiology, summa cum laude with minors in chemistry and criminal justice from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, AZ.
* MS in criminal justice with distinction also from Northern Arizona University.
* Training in conflict resolution and VORP (Victim Offender Reconciliation) program development from the Center for Peacemaking and Conflict Studies at Fresno Pacific University.

Research interests

My research experience is interdisciplinary and ranges from a 14-year career in bone/implant research and research consulting to studies concerning the legal admissibility of DNA evidence in criminal trials. My more recent interest is in medical ethics, science, and law and justice theory. For my dissertation I'm developing a restorative justice model for dealing with the effects of medical errors in hospitals as an alternative to arbitration and medical malpractice litigation. I provide mediation trainings and serve on the panel of mediators in the Dispute Resolution Program of the South Eastern California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
