Additional questions needing clarification: 1. Can a student complete the payback requirement in a part-time position, taking 2 calendar years to complete the required time period? 2. Can a student receiving a MH Stipend and placed in a qualifying setting receive an agency “training stipend” (usually hired by the county on a ‘Student Worker” item and funded through MHSA, realignment or other MH dollars) in addition to the MH Stipend? Would this be considered “double dipping?” Student is having difficulty successfully completing the field placement component of the program and needs additional time in existing placement or re-placement in another qualified setting. Developing an extended timeline for completion of the fieldwork placement component of the MSW program if the student is experiencing difficulties in this component of the program. Developing an extended timeline for completion of the Job search/employment payback component of the program. Develop a full range of support services at the university for consumers who are struggling in their recovery. and therefore having difficulties in meeting educational demands and expectations in the usual timeframe. V. Contract Issues A. Increase job search period to 6 months (180 days). B. Reconsider phrase “Student must accept the first qualifying position offered” as it penalizes county DMH systems as employment process is more complex than that of smaller CBO contract agencies. C. Consider adjusting qualifying student eligibility criteria to include students in the 3rd year of a 3 year program who carry a full-time equivalent courseload and are completing their 2nd year placement. D. Consider adjusting language requiring students employed by county DMH or contract agencies to be on a Leave of Absence in order to participate in the MH Stipend program. Alternative language could require that all program participants reduce current employment at any location by the number of hours of required internship placement.
