Del E. Webb Memorial Library
The library's mission is to provide students with relevant resources and supportive services to further their academic success, as well as provide them with skills to continue that success as practicing health-care professionals.Information about the library (hours, borrowing privileges, etc.) and electronic resources are available on the library's website <library.llu.edu>. Computers are provided in the library for accessing electronic resources and any computer with an Internet browser may access available resources. A log-on ID and password are required for off-campus access to subscription databases. Please visit the website and the library. To ask questions, the campus extension of the reference desk is 44588, from off-campus dial (909) 558-4588. The University identification card is used as the library card and is needed for most services available at the circulation desk.
Other libraries/resources
Department of orthopaedic surgery library
The research and didactic efforts of the department of orthopaedic surgery are in large part dependent upon its departmental library. The library is located in room A-511 in the Medical Center. Medical students rotating on the service have access to the library's materials on a 24-hour basis. Books may NOT be checked out.
Ralph and Carolyn Thompson Jr. Library
The library, located in the Center for Christian Bioethics in Coleman Pavilion, room 11121Z, collects books and journals in biomedical ethics and related fields. Information about the materials in the Thompson Library are included in the campus catalog at Jesse Medical Library & Information Center
The Jesse Medical Library & Information Center (JMLIC) is located in Coleman Pavilion, room 11105. The JMLIC's primary focus is on clinical and direct patient care. All students are allowed access to materials, but only students on clinical rotation may check out materials. Check out is limited to one week with no renewals. There is a $.10 per page charge for photocopies and printouts. Medline and other databases are available for student use. Training for all University personnel is arranged with the Del E. Webb Memorial Library.
Leffingwell library
The Leffingwell Library in the department of anesthesiology is located in room 2523B on the second floor of the Medical Center research wing. It is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Medical students on rotation through the department are welcome to visit and use the library and its materials.
School of Allied Health Professions learning resources
The School of Allied Health Professions has two student computer labs in room 1602. Learning resources available to faculty and students of the School of Allied Health Professions also include various departmental collections, which have recent books and pertinent journals.
School of Nursing learning resource center
The School of Nursing has the skills practice lab and the learning assistance program.
The skills practice lab is a 10-bed facility where students use state-of-the-art models, hospital dolls, clinical simulators, interactive video programs, and skills demonstration videos to practice basic clinical skills. Nursing faculty and alumni volunteers assist students in developing the clinical skills needed to provide comprehensive nursing care.
The learning assistance program (LAP) provides workshops and individual assistance for students who wish to improve their test-taking skills, study skills, time-management, math, or English skills. The LAP staff also coordinates study groups and tutoring services which are available free of charge to nursing students. For further information regarding the learning resource center, contact the LAP office, West Hall, room 1143, or call extension 83826.
School of Public Health learning resources
Microcomputer facilities are available at the School of Public Health for student and faculty use.
Learning resources available to faculty and students of the School of Public Health also include various departmental reading rooms which have recent books and pertinent journals.
VA Medical Center library service
Students currently on rotation at the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Medical Center have circulation privileges. This service is available from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., room 3A-29; the phone number is (909) 422-3063. Photocopies are $.05 per copy for medical students on rotation. Students not on rotation at the VA Medical Center must work with the Del E. Webb Memorial Library to facilitate interlibrary loan transactions. back forward
