Histology Mentor
Your personal tutor--software that presents new questions as you
master the old
1000 questions, 20 subjects, and 3000+ instructional
responses
Version 1.1 for PC Windows 3.1 or higher
Run Mentor (mentor.exe)
- Read introduction then click "Continue"
- Register by typing first and last names
- Highlight subjects in "Exclude" box to be evaluated and click "ADD"
- Highlight subjects not wanted in include box and click "REMOVE"
- To get questions from all the subjects in the include box click "Make Test"
- To limit questions to one subject out of several in "Include" box
- Highlight that subject then click "Make Test"
The 1000+ questions are divided into 20 subject areas and you will find these listed in the "Exclude and Include" list boxes when you get into the program. Many questions involve more than one subject area. For example, a question on epithelia may also involve an item on cytology. Such a question will not be presented unless both epithelium and cytology are in the "Include" box. If you want to focus your study on epithelium but want to include the questions that have cytology as a secondary subject, then put both of those subjects in the "Include" box. Then after you highlight epithelium, click focus.
Your goal is to take tests created when all the subjects are in the "Include" box. Under this circumstance, if you click "Continue" without clicking focus the test that is created will contain four questions from each of the 20 subject areas. The number of questions on the test, the number attempted, average response time, and the current score can be seen at any time by clicking the "Scores Control."
Mentor is a program which takes a database of questions and instructional responses and progressively presents them to a student. A record of the student's progress is kept, and as questions are mastered they are presented less frequently while new ones are added. Therefore, when more than one student uses a given copy of Mentor, all students lose the benefit of this progressive instruction. Furthermore, it is illegal to make copies of this copyrighted material.
