Student - Michael Choi
Hi! My name is Michael Choi. I was born in Riverside, California and have lived there most of my life. I did my undergraduate work at University of California, San Diego, Riverside Community College, Cleveland Chiropractic College, and La Sierra University. I eventually received my bachelor's degree in human biology at La Sierra University. My interest in pursuing a degree in anatomy was ignited by a Loma Linda alumnus who now teaches a class that I previously took at Riverside Community College. I am in the non-thesis program. Some of the courses that I've taken, which includes the core classes, are Gross Anatomy, Histology, Embryology, Neuroscience, Physiology, Biochemistry, and Statistics. Right now, I am currently studying for my comprehensive examinations in order to obtain my MS in anatomy. I plan to graduate this June (2002) and will enter medical school this fall.
For all prospective graduate students who are reading, I must say that being in this anatomy program at Loma Linda has been very enjoyable and a tremendous learning experience for me. The faculty here are more superb than any other I've been around at my previous four institutions. They are always there to assist you in your studies or research and give you a lot of attention. In the beginning, I was pretty stressed out and it took some time to adjust, but after making it through anatomy and all the other tough core classes, I gained so much confidence that I could handle anything. For those of you who are thinking of going into medicine or dentistry, I think this anatomy program provides the absolute best preparation for it. You'll be taking courses with medical students, and possibly dental students, and it is a great benefit if you are planning to go into any health profession.
