The “2006 Health Disparities Research Symposium” will be held on August 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Wong Kerlee International Conference Center. We will have about 45 poster presentations, remarks by Dr. B. Lyn Behrens, MBBS, Dr. Richard H. Hart, MD, DrPH and Dr. H. Roger Hadley, MD, among others.
The symposium will have two keynote guest speakers. The first speaker is Dr. Lovell Allan Jones, PhD., Professor, Department of Health Disparities Research and Director of the Center for Research on Minority Health at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. The second speaker is Dr. Gladys Escalona de Motta, PhD., Chancellor of the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. Both speakers will bring distinct perspectives to the emerging field of health disparities.
