Center for Molecular Biology and Gene Therapy
Postdoctoral fellows
The faculty of the Center for Molecular Biology & Gene Therapy believe that postdoctoral fellows serve an essential and valuable role in each of the CMBGT's various research programs. Thus, the CMBGT actively recruits postdoctoral fellows from a broad variety of disciplines and strives to provide a rich training environment that will both provide current and future research opportunities for the fellows, as well as advance the research interests and expertise of the Center. Many fellows come from foreign countries, in which case the University's International Student Center together with the School of Medicine's assistant dean for administrative affairs, Loretta Miyasato, can assist in procurement of all necessary visas and work documents. Fellows typically spend a minimum of two years in the CMBGT, with many staying on for an optional third year.
The stipends paid to postdoctoral fellows are generally quite competitive with those offered at other institutions and are generally negotiated directly with the faculty member in whose laboratory the fellow intends to work.
All CMBGT fellows are given desk space in the faculty member's laboratory which includes access to computers, meeting area, copier, blackboards, and even a refrigerator for those special homemade lunches.
For more information about participating as a postdoctoral fellow in the Center for Molecular Biology & Gene Therapy, please contact any CMBGT member.
