Seminar programs
Visiting scientist program
In an effort to assure that the research programs of the basic sciences continue to be scientifically rigorous, competitive, and widely recognized, every month the basic science department encourages regular participation in seminars representing world-class scientists from other institutions. During this time, these scientists routinely present several lectures or seminars and have individual meetings with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students to discuss current research. This program offers unprecedented opportunities for CMBGT staff and students to meet and interact with established senior scientists from around the world.
Molecular biology research discussionsTo facilitate interaction and communication, the CMBGT sponsors regular opportunities at 9:00 a.m. on Mondays for the faculty, fellows, and students of the CMBGT to meet and informally discuss recent research findings. These meetings provide a chance for CMBGT staff to gather ideas for solving research problems and strengthen various experimental approaches and collaboration between laboratories. These meetings also often help CMBGT staff get feedback on presentations to be delivered at national/international meetings. At times, these discussions focus on recent developments in the relevant research literature.
