Center for Perinatal Biology
Undergraduate
Undergraduate students contribute significantly to Center activities, most often
through participation in the research programs coordinated by the primary faculty
of the Center. This participation generally is associated with our volunteer
program, or our paid summer research program.
Volunteer program
In recent years, numerous volunteers of all ages have contributed significantly to Center programs. Typically, volunteers first register with Medical Center volunteer services (Phone: (909) 558-4654), undergo a brief orientation, and then select an assignment in any of a broad variety of capacities listed with the volunteer office. Alternatively, interested individuals can directly contact the main office ((909) 558-4325) in the Center for Perinatal Biology. Volunteer service can also be arranged through contact with any Center faculty member.
Paid summer research
Many of the Center's faculty routinely employ undergraduate students to work on research projects during the summer months. Support for these students comes from a variety of sources including the American Heart Association, the American Physiological Society, and other private student scholarship funds. In addition, some laboratories also employ appropriately skilled students as technicians, either full-time or part-time. To further pursue an opportunity to work as a paid summer student, contact either the main office ((909) 558-4325) in the Center for Perinatal Biology, or the faculty member with whom you wish to work.
