Biographical Synopsis

Linda L. D'Antonio, PhD

L. L. D'AntonioDr. Linda L. D'Antonio is a professor in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Loma Linda University.

Dr. D'Antonio is a speech-language pathologist specializing in speech disorders associated with cleft lip and palate and other craniofacial anomalies. She received her undergraduate degree in experimental psychology at the University of California Berkeley and her PhD in speech and hearing sciences from the University of California, San Francisco. She completed a two-year National Institute of Health postdoctoral fellowship in speech physiology at Boys Town National Research Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.

In addition to her extensive clinical experience with cleft palate, Dr. D'Antonio is an active researcher. She has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and multiple chapters in scholarly books. She has presented at several national and international meetings concentrating on the evaluation and management of organic speech disorders and she is an invited speaker at hospitals in North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

Dr. D'Antonio has a career-long commitment to interdisciplinary team care for individuals with craniofacial anomalies. She has served on several cleft palate-craniofacial teams within the United States and has acted as consultant to many teams and centers around the world. She is an active member of the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association and has served on numerous committees and held elected offices within that organization.

In addition to her continuing commitment to cleft care in the United States, Dr. D'Antonio has extensive experience in promoting and establishing speech pathology services as part of interdisciplinary care for individuals with cleft lip and palate in developing countries. She serves as a member of the Medical Advisory Board for The Smile Train, a nonprofit organization committed to promoting cleft care for children around the world.
