Three nursesTwo experienced critical care nurses from SRRSH review a patient's chart with critical care nurse, Kadette Kelly, on the Cardiothoracic ICU at Loma Linda University Medical Center. The two visiting Chinese nurses are at LLUMC for 6 weeks to learn specifically about the post-operative care of the open heart surgery patient. Patricia Jones and Richard Huse present at an international conference on risk management

GroupThe International Nursing Council sponsored Dr. Pat Jones from the School of Nursing and Richard Huse from the Medical Center to present at an international conference on risk management. This conference, organized by the South American Conference of Seventh-day Adventists taught principles of health-care risk management to the leaders of hospitals from Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay. This conference "Quest for Quality" shared lessons learned from risk management activities in United States. This was especially valuable to the hospital leaders in these countries as litigation rates are increasing, following the historical patterns seen in our country. Dr. Jones and Mr. Huse participated in interactive sessions with the nurse executives and other hospital leaders, helping with diverse issues such as staffing and skills mix, as well as the topic of risk management.
