About the area
Preventive medicine residents keep regular hours, while continuing a varied and interesting professional life. This provides time to enjoy the many opportunities available in the Loma Linda area.
The city of Loma Linda has a quiet atmosphere conducive to family life. However, centrally located in the "Inland Empire" in Southern California, it has easy access to many amenities. For the urban experience, freeways give access to Los Angeles and San Diego in about an hour. Southern California sporting events include professional baseball, basketball, football, and hockey teams. Museums, art galleries, concerts, and theaters are also plentiful. Many exciting amusement parks, including Six Flags and Disneyland are near by. The hot and sunny summers, with mild winters, provides year-round access to many outdoor pursuits, including world-class hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, golf, and water-sports. In the winter, good cross-country and alpine skiing makes choosing even harder. See more information about the area.
Residents also receive free membership to the Drayson Center that includes pool/waterslide, weight room, track, racketball, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts. Classes are also available in aerobics, scuba diving, martial arts, and marathon race training.
