What are Allied Health Professions?
Allied health practitioners are involved with the delivery of health care or related services pertaining to the identification, evaluation, prevention, and rehabilitation of diseases and disorders in clients of all ages. Allied health professionals work in different environments and settings. Professions vary from working behind the scenes in an office or lab setting with minimal patient contact or in direct hands-on treatment settings.
Allied health professionals have taken college-level courses and hold degrees from certificates to doctorates in their profession. They have taken and passed national board exams and are certified and/or licensed to practice in their profession of choice.
A number of students use a degree in an allied health area as a stepping stone to advanced degrees in other medical fields.
Academic, Professional, and Spiritual Responsibilities
Our primary responsibility is the education of our students who come from diverse religious, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds enabling them to acquire the foundation of knowledge, skills, values, attitudes, and behaviors appropriate for their chosen academic or health-care ministry. We nurture their intellectual curiosity. We facilitate their development into active, independent learners. We provide continuing educational opportunities for our alumni and professional peers. We encourage a personal Christian faith that permeates the lives of those we educate.
Our Faculty & Staff
We respect our administration, faculty, and staff, who through education, research, and service create a stimulating learning environment for our students. They contribute to the development of new understandings in their chosen fields. They demonstrate both Christian values and competence in their professions. They educate and respond to the therapeutic and rehabilitative needs of people.
We believe in educating ethical and proficient Christian health professionals and scholars through instruction, example, and the pursuit of truth while expanding knowledge through research in the biological, behavioral, physical, and environmental sciences and applying this knowledge to health and disease.
Our faculty members seek to enhance the quality of life for individuals in local, regional, national, and world communities by educating the future competent practitioners that will sustain their respective professions.
