How to apply

Congratulations on your decision to further your health care education. Please note that completion of college prerequisites are required for entry into these programs.

The first step towards attending LLU is to submit an application online and to follow the admissions procedures outlined below.

Please note: The Life Support Education Courses have a separate registration process. Please contact them directly for procedures and requirements.

When to apply

For Respiratory Care: Applications received by March 1 will be given preference in evaluation and admittance as early applications.

The standard application deadline is July 1. Applications may be accepted after July 1 through September 1 based on class availability.

All applications submitted after September 1 will be considered for the next year's class.

For Emergency Medical Care: We begin accepting applications beginning October 1 for the following fall term (September) start date. Acceptances will be offered on a rolling basis for a select number of highly qualified applicants.

Life Support Education: Courses are offered continuously throughout the year. Contact the department for the next available class.

Students in the cardiopulmonary science programs follow a prescribed course of study and enter as one class starting in September (fall quarter). The fall quarter usually begins the second or third week in September.

Prerequisites

Loma Linda University does not offer general education requirements. We do offer some basic science courses. Prerequisites may be taken at any accredited junior college or university. All students transfer to us for their specialized allied health training.

Admissions Procedure

  1. Once you have chosen a program and have a financial plan to fund your education, you will need to complete an application for your chosen program.

You need only to complete one online application for the University and program. (There is a $60 application fee due at the time of application submission.)

  2. Personal statement. Include the personal statement within the online application. The personal statement should include additional information to assist the Admissions Committee and may include the basis for your interest in this profession, your personal mission and purpose, specific reasons for why you want to attend Loma Linda University, and/or other information you think is significant.

  3. Recommendations. Submit three personal recommendation letters from individuals qualified to give pertinent information about your potential professional qualifications. When possible, submit two letters from individuals who know you in an academic setting and one letter from a past or present employer. DO NOT SELECT A RELATIVE. Have each individual providing a recommendation complete the form, seal, and sign across the flap. Recommendation forms may be returned to you to be included in your application submission or sent directly to Loma Linda University.

International student applicants TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) required for all foreign applicants, to include writing test (TWE) with a minimum score of Level 5.

All foreign transcripts, including high school, must be submitted to an approved evaluation service. The list of the three approved services can be obtained from the school admissions link above. Results of the evaluation are sent to LLU directly from the evaluation center. Official foreign transcripts must also be sent directly to us from school to school at time of application. Transcripts that are hand delivered or sent in by the student are considered unofficial.
