Admissions Information - Graduate Programs
Graduate study in speech-language pathology leads to the master of science degree. The program provides opportunity for the graduate (a) to satisfy all academic and clinical requirements for the Certificate of Clinical Competence and the California License in Speech-Language Pathology, or (b) to prepare for doctoral study or careers in related fields. The program does not offer a master's degree in audiology.
Applicants having a bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology and audiology or in communication disorders are admitted to the MS program in speech-language pathology. Applicants having an undergraduate degree in another discipline are admitted for the transitional MS program in speech-language pathology. Applications for the MS and the transitional MS programs are through the School of Allied Health Professions.

Books and supplies, living and transportation expenses
Mandatory school fee of $498 per quarter which covers on campus misc. school fees. (ie, health insurance, Drayson Center, library)
Application procedure
Once you have chosen a program and have a financial plan to fund your education, you will need to complete an application for your chosen program.
You need only to complete one online application for the University and program. (There is a $60 application fee due at the time of application submission.)
- Complete official transcripts of all academic records from colleges, universities, and professional and/or technical schools must be provided. It is the applicant's responsibility to have transcripts sent directly to the School of Allied Health Professions, Room 1605, Loma Linda University, Loma Linda, CA 92350. Official transcripts are required prior to acceptance. Transcripts must be sent directly from previous institutions to Loma Linda University in order for them to be deemed official.
- A personal interview is desirable and may be arranged with the department.
- The program in which the student wishes to study evaluates the application and makes its recommendation to the School of Allied Health Professions Admission Committee. Applications are reviewed by the departmental faculty as they are received. However, the formal decision for admission is not made until after the February 1st deadline. The applicant's request for admission will not be reviewed until the applicant's file contains the necessary documents.
- Students accepted may be asked to file a medical history with student health services as part of registration.
- Transcripts of records and all other application documents are retained permanently by the University for students enrolled after acceptance and may not be withdrawn and used by students for any purpose. Records that do not result in enrollment are destroyed two years from the date of arrival in the admissions office.
Time line
- All students must apply and take the GRE early enough for the scores to reach the department by February 1.
- Submit all documents by February 1 for fall quarter admission.
- Departmental faculty review applications mid-February.
- Students are notified of the action taken within three weeks/early March.
Examinations
Scores on the general test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) are required with applications for admission. Students may get additional information on this test from www.gre.org.
International students
For prospective students who have studied outside the US: Foreign transcripts must be evaluated by an approved evaluation center from the list below. Email our admissions director if you have any questions regarding foreign transcripts.
