Welcome Back Bash
by Greg Steiner, director, student activities
Over 300 students came out to the Drayson Center poolside to play games, eat great food and win lots of prizes. LLUSA gave away over $2000 in prizes! Campus Catering provided the luau themed menu complete with fresh smoothies. Although it was advertised as a pool party, hardly anyone took advantage of the two swimming pools and the waterslide. Two lucky students whose numbers were called to win a DVD player went down the slide in order to collect their prize. The bash ended with a barrage of fireworks put on by Pyrospectaculars, Inc..

Operation Christmas child kick-off
Wednesday, October 15, Loma Linda University campus
This program provides an opportunity for individuals of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions project that reaches out to suffering children while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas--Jesus Christ, God's greatest gift. In 2002, Operation Christmas child collected over six million shoe boxes worldwide and distributed them to children in about 95 countries. This year the student activities office has set a goal of 500 shoeboxes. You can get your shoebox from the student activities office or look for them in the student lounge in your school.
Camp Death Valley
by Greg Steiner, director, student activities
From the Panamint mountains to the Devil's Golf Course, students visited Death Valley National Park and survived to tell the story. A group of sixteen students, staff, and friends, camped at Furnace Creek in Death Valley National Park. It was amazing to see the multicolored mountains to the salt crystals forming 280 feet below sea level. The camping conditions were perfect! Temperatures ranged from 70's at night to 100 during the day. It was very interesting to find beauty in such a desolate place.
