Climate/weather

The east coast of Madagascar is exposed to trade winds and subject to cyclones in the hot season; 2000mm (79 in.) of rain per year. The high plateau enjoys a Mediterranean climate with temperatures averaging 18.4 C (65 F). The rainy season lasts from December to April and is shorter in the south where the climate is dry and sunny with cool nights.

Languages

Malagasy is the national language spoken and understood everywhere. French is the second official language, widely understood and used in all tourist areas. Even though they have had Malagasy names since independence, most of the large cities still go by their French names.

Program fee

Program fees include food, lodging, and transport from the arrival airport to the site. Program fees do not include air travel or personal travel while in the country. The following costs are approximate and subject to change in conjunction with the site.
