The official language of Mexico is Spanish, however 50% of the staff at this site speak English. Spanish speaking is highly desirable.
AccommodationsParticipants will be lodged in a guest house during their stay. With regard to meals, students may either eat meals at the site or hire a cook to prepare meals for them at home. Other amenities at this site include running water, hot showers, and possible house cleaning help. Drinking water is pure well water and is considered to be safe.
Transportation to siteParticipants are responsible for arranging their own air travel to the San Diego international airport. It is also possible to drive from Loma Linda to the Mexico border. From the border, SIMS will help participants arrange bus transport to the site which is approximately 4 hours south by bus.
EligibilityThis site recruits students and professionals in all health professions, with an emphasis on medicine, nursing, and dentistry.
Program datesSIMS arranges regular summer trips to this site.
Program costApplication fee
The application fee for all SIMS-coordinated trips is $50.00. Trips during all other times of the year must be arranged on an individual basis with SIMS and the site. Students and professionals wishing to participate in a summer project must submit an application by the last week of February, prior to the summer they wish to go. Participants wishing to travel at other time during the year must submit an application four months prior to their desired departure dates. All late applications will be subject to a fine of $25.00.

Program fee
Program fees include food, lodging, and transport from the arrival airport to the site. Program fees do not include air travel or personal travel while in the country. The following costs are based on a four-week stay and subject to change in conjunction with the site.
