About the School of Public Health
From its beginnings in 1967, the School of Public Health has endeavored to help society prevent illness and improve life. Professional excellence and a strong sense of mission permeate each area of specialization, including biostatistics, environmental and occupational health, epidemiology, global health, health administration, health education, maternal and child health, nutrition, preventive care, and public health practice.
These educational programs lead to bachelor of science in public health, master of public health, master of business administration, master of science in public health, doctor of public health degrees, and certificate programs. Career options and opportunities for graduates are many and varied. Loma Linda University School of Public Health is the only university in the Western US to offer an accredited (BSPH) degree.
While we offer most classes on a flexible schedule that is friendly to working individuals, others who are unable to leave their current employment to come to Loma Linda may study via distance learning programs. Students in these programs are active in various professions: nursing, medicine, hospital administration, dentistry, education, and theology. The MPH degree obtained through the distance learning program enhances their ability to serve.
The School of Public Health is involved in educational activities around the world. Associations of support have been requested or are in place with a number of Seventh-day Adventist institutions of higher education including: Montemorelos University in Mexico, Chilean Adventist University in Chile, Zaosky Adventist University in Russia, Universidad Peruana Union in Peru, and Philippine Union College and the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies in the Philippines.
