James F. Sallis, PhD
About the Speaker
James F. Sallis, PhD, Professor of Psychology at San Diego State University and Program Director for the Active Living Research Program, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Dr. Sallis is on the Advisory Committee for the California Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. He is an invited member of Virtual Network of Experts to assist in implementing the WHO’s Global Strategy on Diet, Physical Activity, and Health and founding member of Advisory Board of the Agita Mundo/Move for Health Network based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. His primary research interests are promoting physical activity and nutrition. His health improvement programs have been studied and used in health care settings, schools, universities, and companies.
Dr. Sallis is the author of over 400 scientific publications and is one of the world’s most cited authors in the social sciences. Dr. Sallis has received awards from the American College of Sports Medicine, the Society of Behavioral Medicine, and the American Psychological Association Division of Health Psychology.
