HADM 510 Health Policy Analysis and Synthesis – 3 units
This course is designed to familiarize students with many different policy issues at the forefront of the public health arena. Key components of the course will include learning how to analyze and implement policy for issues such as: rising costs in health care, the uninsured, health access, quality of care issues, trends in financing, and international health. Where possible, the course will draw upon the experiences of other industrialized democracies in its consideration of viable public health policies that have worked elsewhere and may work here in the United States’ public health infrastructure.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, the successful student will be able to:
- Analyze policy in the healthcare arena;
- Identify issues within the healthcare delivery system;
- Develop options, and propose new policy ideas to help in fixing the fractured healthcare delivery system;
- Demonstrate true leadership and persuasion in presenting ideas both orally and in writing.
