HPRO 524 Adolescent Health – 3 units
Study of developmental and health problems unique to the adolescent period of life. Attention will emphasize empirically verified elements of prevention of high-risk behaviors.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, the successful student will be able to:
- Describe normal growth and development of adolescents from the standpoint of physiological, psychological, social, and emotional development.
- Describe the characteristics of early, middle, and late adolescence.
- Describe the resilience among adolescents.
- Understand risk taking behaviors in adolescence and specifically how to prevent these behaviors.
