HPRO 535 Health Education Program Administration – 3 units
An analysis of the managerial role of the health education specialist within public and private health organizations. Emphasis on program administration, leadership, evaluation, and fiscal management.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, the successful student will be able to:
- Discuss health education administration and leadership strategies for public or private health agencies or organizations.
- Organize and work with multi-disciplinary committees for health planning
- Demonstrate organizational leadership and policy development skills
- Apply marketing strategies including social marketing for program promotion, implementation and research/evaluation.
- Describe the basic public health organization at federal state and local governments.
- Develop health education fiscal budgets for projects and departments.
- Describe how an agency meets the responsibility for accountability in health education.
- Discuss importance of effective organizational communication and leadership styles.
- Plan performance evaluation of health education personnel.
- Demonstrate human resource management skills including methods of orientation for new employees.
- Organize and conduct individual and group interviews for new employees.
- Discuss conflict resolution in the workplace.
