Environmental health professionals are diverse in background, education, and function. In recognition of this fact, the department stresses an interdisciplinary approach to instruction provided in its courses. In varying degrees of depth, classes in environmental health provide training in the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of health hazards in the workplace and community.
The protection of the human environment from natural and man-made hazardous conditions is a major issue of growing concern which affects the health and welfare of people throughout the world. In response to these concerns, we offer a California state-approved professional program leading to the master of public health (MPH) degree in environmental health.
