Fayomi Agboola
Graduate Research Assistant
BiographyMr. Agboola completed his undergraduate studies in biological sciences from the University of Abuja, Nigeria, West Africa. He is a graduate student at Loma Linda University School of Public Health. His major is environmental epidemiology. His passion includes using the knowledge and experience acquired in public health to monitor trends and mitigate impacts of various scourges of modern times, for instance HIV/AIDS, pan flu, health disparities, poverty, etc.
Research/Project ActivitiesAs part of the initiative to build capacity in the Native American population by the Regional Academic Center of Loma Linda University (LLU), Mr. Agboola is currently leading out in a research project alongside faculty from LLU that is looking at air quality concerns in and around the Torres Martinez Indian Reservation in the Eastern Coachella Valley, California. The project evolved through a partnership with Riverside County and by attending meetings by the Oasis Dumping and Burning Task Force from the Eastern Coachella Valley District. The project aims at evaluating the health effects of exposure to dumping and burning in the districts (foci: Mecca and Themal) for school-aged children. Focus is on respiratory health and proximity to dump sites and exposure to smoke and inhalation of burning contaminants.
