Preparedness in Palau

These women are traditional Palau matriarchal leaders engaged in a discussion facilitated by SPH faculty member Angela Dyjack, MPH, REHS. This exercise was part of a CDC-sponsored training program provided by the SPH’s Center for Public Health Preparedness in the Republic of Palau October 17 to 20. More than 400 attendees from the Palauan Ministry of Health, the national hospital, the Department of Education, and faith- and community-based organizations benefited from a highly interactive capacity-building program with emphasis on pandemic influenza preparedness. The SPH is scheduled to return in 2008 to lead out in nationwide drills and exercises.
