"Obesity: Environmental & Genetic Factors of Childhood & Adolescent Obesity"

Obesity is a growing epidemic in our society, especially in children and adolescents.This one-day seminar will identify factors that contribute to the current epidemic, discuss present and future health and economic implications, the role of genetics, lifestyle changes, and the influence of food selection and intake. Strategies that can be undertaken by health professionals, parents, educators, and community leaders will be presented as well as California State Senate Bill SB19 and its implications. "Spirituality, Culture,& Health"
Wong Kerlee International Conference Center

Healthy People 2004 features a selection of topics of current interest to public health professionals. The theme for the first two days is "Spirituality & Health-Connections in Research and Practice." Speakers include national leaders in the field such as Harold Koenig, Kenneth Pelletier, and Stephen Post. The last day focuses on "Child Health-Local and International Initiatives."
