Obesity is a growing epidemic in our society, especially in children and adolescents.This one-day seminar will identify factors that contribute to the current epidemic, discuss present and future health and economic implications, the role of genetics, lifestyle changes, and the influence of food selection and intake. Strategies that can be undertaken by health professionals, parents, educators, and community leaders will be presented as well as California State Senate Bill SB19 and its implications.
