Welcome to Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy (LLUSP). We are very pleased that you have taken the time to contact us. The information provided on these pages should help you to better understand the LLU campus, the profession of pharmacy, and this School's program of study. 
Students attend classes on the various pharmacy disciplines:
Therapeutics, Drug information, Pharmaceutical care, and Experiential education. In addition, courses from the Faculty of Religion serve to enhance the spiritual growth of students. A minimum of 214 credits is required for graduation.
Many opportunities exist in the US and internationally for students to participate in outreach and service programs with populations underserved by the health-care system. This ability to perform meaningful service is a gift that enhances the lives of both those being served and of those serving.
Successful completion of the course of study and graduation from the LLUSP prepares students to sit for the California State Board Examination in Pharmacy (offered by the California Board of Pharmacy) and/or the North American Pharmacist Licensure Exam (NAPLEX, offered by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy). Licensure by the California Board of Pharmacy is required for practice within the state of California. The NAPLEX is required for licensure in states other than California.
Reciprocity regulations allow pharmacists to transfer their pharmacy license between many of the states in the US. California licensure only recognizes successful completion of the California State Board Exam. States other than California only recognize the NAPLEX. Those intending to practice in areas outside the US should review the specific licensure requirements for those countries.
The LLUSP is the first pharmacy program to offer the doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree within the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist system of colleges and universities. The excellent practice facilities available within the LLU Medical Center (LLUMC) and other affiliated institutions joined with a knowledgeable, diverse, and dedicated faculty provide an exceptional combination for a quality education.

Although we are the newest school at LLU, we join with Nursing, Medicine, Dentistry, Allied Health Professions, Public Health, Science and Technology, and the Faculty of Religion in sharing the proud heritage of nearly a century of health professions education.
