Summer Research Programs

Undergraduate students interested in pursuing scientific or medical research at Loma Linda University in the School of Medicine are encouraged to use one of the following opportunities.

Biomedical Undergraduate Research Program (BURP)

Students pursuing undergraduate majors in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) can apply to the Biomedical Undergraduate Research Program. This program helps match interested students with available laboratories and provides a weekly stipend ($500/ week for 2013) for 8 – 10 weeds.

Apprenticeship Bridge to College (ABC)

High school students can apply to this program for the opportunity to conduct biomedical research into health disparities and other biochemical questions. This program selects for students who are members of groups underrepresented in STEM disciplines or who live in an area that is underserved.

Undergraduate Training Program (UTP)

Undergraduate students can apply to this program for the opportunity to conduct biomedical research into health disparities or other biochemical questions. This program selects for students who are members of groups underrepresented in STEM disciplines or who live in an area that is underserved.

Volunteer Services

Students 18 years or older can also volunteer their services in research laboratories or in a clinical setting. Contact Volunteer Services for opportunities to volunteer in a clinical setting. Students interested in volunteering in a research laboratory can contact individual faculty members to apply though the Biomedical Undergraduate Research Program.
