Every freshman and sophomore medical student is required to complete and submit an evaluation for the courses that have been completed. The evaluation form will be available on the Loma Linda University internet at http://courseval.llu.edu. Students will have access to the course evaluations beginning the week following examinations and continuing for a period of two weeks.
Students will be randomly assigned to evaluate faculty who lecture in each of the courses. Students who are expected to do the evaluations will be notified by email and the evaluation form will be available for completion online at http://courseval.llu.edu for two weeks immediately following mid-term and final exams.
Whether or not randomly assigned to evaluate a faculty member, all students have the right to evaluate any faculty member that has participated in the student’s education. Students will have access to these faculty evaluations beginning two weeks after the course has ended and extending a full two weeks once the evaluation forms have been posted.
When completing faculty evaluations, students must identify themselves using their LLU identification number. This process will allow the School of Medicine to determine which of the randomly assigned students completed the faculty evaluations. Once student participation has been verified, any information that could be used to identify the source of the evaluation will be removed by the Dean’s office staff so that the student generated evaluation can be held in strict confidence. Faculty will never have the information necessary to identify their student evaluators.
Completion of faculty and course evaluations are a requirement for course completion. Students who fail to complete these evaluations will be assigned a grade of “In Progress” that must be removed prior to beginning the subsequent academic year. Completion of faculty and course evaluations are considered to be an essential component of a student’s professional growth. Failure to complete these evaluations in a timely manner indicate a lack of professional responsibility and will become part of the student’s record.
