     A. Designated by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) for verifying a specialist's certification.
     B. Revised annually and available in many medical and public libraries.

• American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), (215) 587-9322

1. Only recognized board of plastic surgery by the ABMS.

2. Requires a prescribed 5-7 years of post-graduate surgical training and successful completion of both written and oral examination.
   

• American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPRS), (847) 228-9900

1. Requires board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

2. Requires an ethical demonstration of competence by conforming to the Society's code of ethics.
