During his residency, he distinguished himself by completing several research projects, which he has presented at local, regional, and national meetings. Dr. Gocken lives his life by example. Quoting from Dr. Gocken's entry application into our plastic surgery program, "I try to be kind and caring with patients. Keeping their best interests in mind is paramount. Few things give me more satisfaction than working hard and doing a tough job well. Although the hours are long and the rigors demanding, surgery is more of a pleasure than a job."
Afer the completion of his plastic surgery residency in June 1995, Dr. Gocken's began a private practice in La Jolla, California, and started a family with his wife Kristin.
