1996-2000 annual report

The files that follow tell the story of God's continued leading at Loma Linda. They present shining evidence of the dynamic good that derives when consecrated humans make themselves available to the miracle-working power of the spirit of God.

These are not easy times for health-care education and/or administration. The vagaries of the nation's economy, as well as the pressures of providers, require that those in charge (administrators) --as well as those who support--are often called upon to go the extra mile in order to maintain efficiency.

From this perspective, these statistics verify but could never quantify the volume of sacrifice or the high quality of concern that make Loma Linda the markedly successful vehicle of health-care learning and implementation that it is.

I hope that as you read this report, you will sense, as we do, reassurance that this place, chosen by God long ago, still enjoys His special favor and, again, that the union of human diligence and Divine regard guarantee effectiveness no matter how threatening the external environment. For these blessings, we happily rejoice and in humility and great gratitude, render the report before you.

Calvin B. Rock, DMin, PhD, general vice president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists in Silver Spring, Maryland, has been chair of the LLU and LLUMC Boards of Trustees since 1990, and chair of the LLUAHSC Board of Trustees since its inception in 1997.
