Purple wisteria trails down marbled columns on unit 9200. Colorful artwork, silk flower arrangements, and soothing colors brighten each patient's room. Over the last six months, the Medical Center's oncology unit has undergone major transformations. Thanks to personal touches from volunteer professional painters, paired with interior design concepts, a garden-like atmosphere has wiped out traces of the previously stark, sterile environment. "It is because of these people's commitment to our cancer patients," says LLUMC vice president Norman L. McBride, MBA, "that we can create a healing environment for our patients who have cancer."
